ADHD Pre-Assessment & Screening
in St Albans
QbCheck measures cognitive performance and activity levels. It provides important objective information to aid in the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD.
It is a computer-based activity that combines a Continuous Performance Task (CPT) with motion tracking to objectively measure the three core symptoms of ADHD; hyperactivity, attention and impulsivity.
A QbCheck can be taken as part of a pre-assessment for ADHD (self-referral) or as part of the diagnostic process (referral by a healthcare professional).
Much of the assessment process is based on subjective data, i.e. information from personal accounts that are based on opinions, perception or experiences. So in a healthcare setting, this may be a patient describing their level of pain or their symptoms, for example.
Much of the process is self-reported (for adults) or informed by a parent or carer (for children). The information given may influence the outcome, for example, and the informant's perception, acceptance, willingness and self-awareness all play a significant role.
An objective measure supplies vital factual information to the process.
As per The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, ADHD is diagnosed using the medical classification system published by DSM-5.
During the QbCheck, we will go through a questionnaire that draws on key criteria from the DSM-5, to get an even better understanding of whether the symptoms experienced will meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD.
The results to the screening process will form part of our report and recommendations.
You will receive a comprehensive report showing your performance in the QbCheck. It will give a good indication of whether ADHD is present and if it is worth pursuing a full diagnosis. The QbCheck will then form part that diagnostic process.
The combined results of the QbCheck and Questionnaire can also be used to inform school or work of the likelihood of ADHD. On the basis of the QbCheck, support measures can be put in place; a full diagnosis should not be required for support to be offered. Diverse Identities can provide you with recommendations about some of the support measures that can be requested.
Having a QbCheck report also makes referrals more straight-forward; it gives doctors or specialists the information they need.
